The Challenge:

How to process 3 thousand orders each Monday with only 3 employees, without increasing costs?

The Outcome:

Our client is re-selling cosmetics on Amazon (Fulfilled by a merchant). He came to us with a problem – everybody in their team goes into a mini-crisis each Monday. When they start work in the morning, 3K+ orders await them. At the same time, the client had previously tried several different software solutions, yet none of them had helped to alleviate this bottleneck.

After detailed discussions about the problem of our client, we decided to implement a set of functions that are easy to use, integrating a scale and a barcode reader to reach a simplified, faster order fulfillment workflow. By connecting an electronic scale and barcode reader to the employees’ laptops, this workflow allows them to process orders in bulk or one by one, excluding the need for pack lists.

What does the process look like, you may ask?

Normally, 90% of the clients’ orders contain only one item. Each product that they sell is typically part of at least 50 to 100 orders each day.
After picking all their designated products in a basket, the employees use Noverstock to filter orders with identical products and end up with a set of orders containing the same product and package box.

From this point on, they have to package. All package types sit next to the employees’ workstations. They select an order, weigh it, print a shipping label for it and that’s it. Voila!

The order has everything necessary to be shipped – the product is put in the correct box, has been weighed and the proper shipping label is attached.

Once all 3k+ orders are processed, the couriers are ready to receive them by 3:30 pm each day. Every order is in-network for next-day delivery.

After 2 months of using Noverstock and getting to know the new workflow, the client is now able to process 3K+ orders on busy days with just 3 people. There is no need to have separate people who pick, pack orders and generate shipping labels. Now every employee covers the order processing workflow from beginning to end. And all that is needed is 3 workstations, each connected to a scale and barcode reader.
